If the Amazon Care program is a success, the company is likely to have all willingness to expand its offerings to the broader U.S. market. Historically, Amazon has experimented with new products on its employees first, before broadening them out to the general population…Bottom line, the telemedicine industry is another addition to the list of industries for which every Amazon move will now be closely watched. Amazon could partner with telehealth vendors to manage the network and be a potential new source of revenue. Would it be a surprise to learn Apple and Google launch similar platforms? Concierge Medicine for the Masses by Telethink - Think Telemedicine We are reinventing the concierge medicine model. Here's what makes us different - and what it means for you.   You're probably familiar with traditional concierge medicine programs, where patients pay a fee to get access to coveted services such as 24/7 physician availability or same-day appointments. However, few have realized that recently the concierge medicine landscape has been diversifying. Traditional concierge medicine practices operate in primary care and target patients who are willing to pay a large premium for VIP-level service. As such, they are generally limited in size and scope. Some new practices, however, are increasing consumer access to concierge care by lowering retainer fees and utilizing ma

Employers Could Slash Their Health Costs Overnight. So, Why Don't They? I am often asked if the free market can work in health care. My quick reply is: That is the only thing that works. At least, it is the only thing that works well. Show me a health care market where there is no Blue Cross, no Medicare and no employer. I’ll bet it’s a market that works a lot like the markets for other goods and services. In Overcharged: Why Americans Pay Too Much for Health Care (Cato: 2018), law professors Charles Silver and David Hyman make this same point in spades. more    https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-gillespie-telehealth-solutions-by-telethink-37aa46111/

Low-income patients and veterans living in rural areas face challenges with getting convenient access to high-quality healthcare care. Case in point: In rural Laurel Fork, Virginia, there is a shortage of mental health and primary care services. So local leaders there are tackling that challenge with technology as part of the Tri-Area Community Health Center to offer telehealth as part of a remote patient monitoring program for patients with diabetes. Patients are given an internet-connected home monitor that enables endocrinologists to monitor the patient’s blood glucose levels daily, as well as their dietary intake and physical activity. read more
